So now comes the time that in the next few weeks we must make our final project a reality.
We have several ideas that will each be highlighted later. Each member of the group will come up with a idea and them we will go over them all hoping to eventually get the overall idea by collaborating ideas either through constructive criticism or taking bits from different ones. Sounds good right?
After Lee going over some of his past present and future projects I was quite inspired at how simple yet brilliant his projects had been. Modifying toys and everyday objects, who would have thought!
A project that particularly stood out was one that used a light sensor by traffic lights so that once the red light went, the LDR would switch ON/OFF a switch from a 'Fart box' (electronic whoopee cushion) which would set of fake model birds (fitted with a small speaker that emits a whistle noise) situated in a near by tree.
Our chosen site 'The Dance Academy' is situated right next to some traffic lights, so that would be ideal. As when the potential audience is stopped at traffic they will be essentially forced to look at the projection on the side of the building.
As Lee highlighted this is a great way to get the audience to look at the piece as they can't really get away from it in traffic in a standstill. Like he said we 'want to get horns beeping' as people will get so engaged in the projection they won't realise it's a green light.
So we would have a LDR connected to the red light that would set of a trigger in a flash file (as it would act as a external feed through an Arduino board) to project our chosen subject matter.
My idea was the have images of the inside of the abandoned building being projected in a creepy eerie aesthetic. Almost to show the insides of this dying organism (the building) like opening up a empty lifeless carcass.
Another idea I had was to have a online feed, through a website we constructed, a button (in a more elaborate form than just a button) that would have a ON/OFF status to activate the projection on the side of the building as well as the LDR attached to the traffic lights. But this online button could have a different function, such as showing the projection in a different way? Reversed? Flipped? Altered?
Now we must go over the ideas to get a firm direction of where we are going.
