Today was a good day, finally something going right as I was able to meet Pete Smithers in Davy building and acquire 4 glass petri dishes. This enables Ferrofluid to be suspended in just water and not stain the glass! Meaning the overall effect is much better (than using plastic petri dish's) as you can see it! We found that oily residue would rise to the surface at times, but this was easy to overcome by using some tissue paper to soak up the oil from the surface water leaving the water more visible. In the video above you can see the Ferrofluid being manipulated by magnets in our hands (first two shots) then in the final shot you can very briefly see the Ferrofluid being manipulated by magnets on the rotating motor/wheel…before the battery died! Its working! Now we are still waiting for the Miniature Potentiometers to arrive so until then we can get on planning the presentation. Very happy its all coming together now!
