This morning the Acrylic housing was solidly set thanks to No More Nails! So we could continue the construction by adding the shelves. After a bit of sanding and adjustment we were able to place the shelves on the supporting beam at the back on the housing, and then just rest the rest on the shelf on two little cardboard boxes until it sets.
So far it is looking alright! Once set a bit of sanding to edges will need to be done, but otherwise its fine.
Next up was the motor’s to sort out. We are using drinks lids as they are the prefect shape and dimension for not only the motor wheel, but the motor base! So they have been stuck together and are also resting in position until they set (see above). Tonight I will add more adhesive to the construction ready to set overnight.
Tomorrow we will start to experiment in what way will be best to use the ferrofluid (in terms of how much, speed of the motor going around etc) so I am hoping it will all work as expected...fingers crossed.
