After reading this article on 'digital cities' and watching this youtube video about LA in 2106 I began to thing about the stonehouse area and what I was going to base my postcard on, showing my representation of the future.
I thought about how everyone always likes to go about overboard when thinking about the future. Lets go back 50 years, futurists back then and even before predicted we would have flying cars by the time we hit the millennium but look at us all now. Wheres the flying cars?! Sure flying cars is quite a far fetched example but that was still the representation of the future once.
To me I don't think the future will be drastically different, nowadays there is too much red tap to get thought, so personally I don't think I will see flying cars in my lifetime.
That is why for my postcard I have taken the 'Dance Theatre' and aged it (even more...) as I think that building will still be there crumbling away in years to come as the owner is in prison for a long time and he still owns the property.
I have made the building aged with a thick coat of smog from the car fumes so it will look more like a building in Edinburgh than a building in stonehouse.
People will continue to go on their lives passing it everyday on their daily commute without a care in the world for the building.
To some it will be a reminder of the past, yet to most it will be just the same derelict building that has towered above them for years, and years to come.
