Today we got our introduction to the next iDAT206 Project.
Project 2 asks you to work individually to the context set in the tutorials and lectures. The nature of the assignment and the exact audience will be negotiated in tutorials. Your project should address an identified need and operate within a broader community, it should critically address production and distribution issues raised in the lecture/tutorial sessions, such as social networks. This may sound vague but all will be made clear in the lectures/tutorials. iDAT206 Brief.
The project title is: Interactive Multimedia Systems for the Social Web (Web 2.0)
And we either must:
Design and implement a system integrated with an existing (and famous) social networking website (e.g. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Flickr, etc) via a particular API or in any other way.
Design and implement a prototype of a future system similar to an existing social networking website (e.g. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Flickr, etc), that would be able (theoretically) to replace it in the future (and make you a billionaire).
So currently for me, I am split about which route I am going to go down. I could either create a system for current social networking sites using API’s (which I will have to research as I have never used them before) or create a prototype of a more advanced social networking system that I could see in the future.
Both of the paths intrigue me and I have a few ideas of what I could do with both which I will post once I have researched and found out if these ideas would work/be feasible.
