When using Hopala and Layer fortunately in most cases there is a default attribute to certain elements. For the POI's or markers this was a basic circle 'button' with a slight gradient you can see in my earlier blog posts when I am testing certain things. Obviously I needed to add a different design and you can see my markers above. I wanted something clear and obvious that also held clues to its meaning. Due to the different grading of difficulties I went for the trusted traffic light design, green for easy, amber for challenging, red for hard. I wanted the number on the markers too for ease of use to make sure the user knew what marker was meant next for them! Plus on the Bovisand route, due to the course going back on itself I had to make the markers different from one another to avoid confusion of what was the next marker. Also as I know some POI graphics in AR applications distract from the view of the surrounding environment, I made sure the graphics had a see through section so users wouldn't have their entire view in the screen view blocked! Below you can see what the markers look like in the browser (bear in mind I am sat in my room!).
