Today I met with Gianni my final project supervisor to talk about my plans. I was reminded that the final project has to be new and original so I need to take a step back from my initial idea, and focus more on the context so I don’t jump to one technology as I have done.
Working around emergency services is what I am interested in, so Gianni has encouraged me to go back and find out as much as I can about the situations first responders find themselves in. I need to understand the pressures and emotions felt by them so I can come up with the best way to aid their awareness. As the best situational awareness may not be visual, it may be though sound or any of the other senses we possess. It could turn out the ideal assist would be to isolate the user or even add an extra arm! I need to find out how they react, timings, how they work in a team, do they sweat?! Everything.
So I will be interviewing a Paramedic early next week to discuss and start to understand what goes on and continue to research over the xmas break to fully understand what would be best for (most likely) Paramedics to aid their situational awareness.
