Last night I was able to take out the projector and iPhone to document the app working out in the field. I used it around campus to get a few shots of peoples reaction to my personal space projected onto the floor. Obviously this being a projection the best time to take it out was at night, and I was lucky enough to have some really good weather conditions to film in.
Other members of the public (mostly fellow students in my case) all seemed to pay attention to the projected circle even if they didn’t understand what it was about, so in terms of drawing peoples attention I’m pretty confident I achieved that!
After spending time on campus filming me walking about me and my 'camera crew' went down to the Hoe to film me walking in the open. Then we got a couple of long exposures as an added extra to show my illuminated personal space over a matter of 8 seconds (these are below). I’m really pleased with the project outcome and I’m looking forward to presenting it tomorrow! This project met the brief really well I think as it was able to pull out our notion and ideology of our personal boundaries from the immaterial and visualize it in a portable and interactive fashion. I purposely decided to leave out an option to show the user the diameter of the projected space as when asked “what is your desired personal space?”, no one can reply with a dimension, but they can show you in physical space, and now they can show you very quickly and easily with my app!
