So after todays discussion our group consisting of myself, Ben, Karla, Jon, Matt we have got these tasks set for ourselves to get our ideas together and in motion so when we are back after the christmas break we are aware of what we need to do and can get straight into it.
Firstly we need a website to which our information to project comes from. And secondly on that website there needs to be some sort of form with questions that act as one of our data feeds.
As our projection is going to include a camera positioned at the projection so we will film what is being projected which will go into the projection. Confusing as it sounds it is actually very simple as we will recreate the Mis en abyme effect, which in french means 'placing into infinity', or to you and me the effect of standing in between two mirrors and seeing yourself go off into infinity.
Here I filmed myself re-creating the effect with just a standard webcam pointing at my screen to show how simple and easy it is.
This effect helps to convey the idea that the old building is empty (which it is) and almost like a void, sucking in the surrounding area as it dominates the immediate environment and casts a eiry shadow. And produces a black-hole effect which also could represent our projection going into the space and being absorbed by the surface.
Now we need to think about what questions we will have on the site, how it will effect the feed and how are we going to promote the website around the area. Shot-codes spring to mind but † they are not very well known. So possibly old school posters and viral marketing at bus stops and lamp posts in the immediate vicinity.
